Just two days ago, the VI & Lekki Areas of Lagos experienced flooding which is still prevalent in some areas. I saw some comics about it but what got me was when I heard someone say "dem never see anything, shey dem dey claim big men dey stay for dat area" (if you don't stay in Lagos, you may not get this but there is a kind of 'cold war' between Islanders and Mainlanders for reasons a young Lagosian like me is yet to understand). So I was mad at that comment but did not say anything because lately, I learnt that the average Nigerian is a "schooled" person and the most difficult person to educate is a schooled person. Now when I say "schooled" I mean what you are thinking when you first meet someone, the "Is he/she my religion or Tribe? Do we share same interests or like the same things?" If any of these questions comes back on the negative side, you automatically start looking for just one single reason to hit the "dislike button" so even a smile can trigger that. Then we sit in our homes insulting our leaders for lack of good governance and all manner when all the while we are to blame. Because as far as I know, the leaders don't ask themselves questions the "schooled" ask hence the unity you see amongst them but they use the "school card" to keep us at each others throat while they use "tokens" to motivate the strike (we all know how fifty thousand Naira meant for 'sharing' among three hundred people can lead to communal clash and deaths). How did we get here, Hypocrisy and Insincerity. We go to our Mosques and Churches for different reasons this days, come out and get back to leaving a "schooled" life. No fear of God, Uprightness or even Integrity as far as the cash will come in (I will not delve into that broad topic). Back to my case, why do we hate or dislike what we can't get or understand? I know there is a little human flaw called jealousy but Nigerians have taken it to another level. Because you don't have cloths, everyone should be naked, you are hungry, everyone should starve, you don't have a car, everyone should not, you don't stay on the Island, you say "dem never see". Yet you are amongst the "most religious peoples" on earth. When was empathy and humanity relegated to the back bench? The properties lost and damaged during this two days alone cannot be easily evaluated and someone is saying "dem never see". A lot of us remain where we are in life because we have the "dem never see" mindset, you cannot have what you don't deserve and because you don't like others having what you don't have at the moment, you may never have it. I wanted to ask if he'll stay on the Island if given a free, well furnished apartment, I bet you the answer will be yes but because no such offer, "dem never see". Ladies and Gentleman, you cannot get to the top if you don't appreciate those at the top, irrespective of what you think, hear or even believe, you can never have what you don't appreciate because you don't deserve, you will never grow if you don't respect the grown ups. You will never get to "see" if "dem never see" besides, "when neighbors beard is on fire, find a way to wet yours" (in Pete Edochie voice). A natural disaster can happen and happens anywhere, to those affected, its just a passing phase in life. Learn the lessons & Stay strong.

The TOP is UNITED and well KNITTED, to get there, you must DROP OUT of " SCHOOL" and get "EDUCATED"...#STAYFOCUSED...
