    A NEW KING (HUMILITY)

I was about to enter a military facility where a pass is required when all of a sudden, I heard someone slap another, on turning to see what was happening, a young man who I later got to understand, just came back from the States and whose father is one of the top officers in that facility slapped a young soldier for "harassing" him. I don't need to tell you what happened next but to ease your imagination, that day, I knew that a "General's son" can be killed before the 'General' arrives. Almost all the soldiers around there took turns at beating this young chap who I must admit was brave to still be talking and standing tall despite the chains, cables, sticks and boots. As someone who has no stomach for violence, I gave a good distance away from the scene where I heard all the story, his friend was explaining to one of the soldiers that the said guy just arrived some days back and did not have the mandatory gate pass and because he does not understand how things are done around here (and of course because his father is a General too), he felt he was harassed, hence the aggression. To cut the long story short, the young man was taken to the military office (after all the beatings) where he was asked to call his father.
Ladies and Gentlemen, there will always be a thing or two you cannot control, comprehend or even know, keep calm. Most times we feel we have the immunity or rights because of the people we are connected to either by blood or any other bond forgetting that everyone has the same or even more "connection" than we do. In the case of that young man, he felt his father, by virtue of being the second in command of the military facility can do and undo especially when his first son who has been away in the States for almost all his life is involved but one thing he forgot was that there was a distance and time frame between his beatings and his father's arrival. Yes the father must definitely come and salvage the situation but the son have taken the beatings and might need medical attention. As a matter of fact, the young man's singular action of slapping a soldier can cause a serious career problem for his father (it indirectly implies that the father did not teach his son to respect the men and women he is not only a part of but also a leader).
That case reminded me of one of my favorite scriptures Ex.1v8 which reads "Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph", after this verse came the beginning of bondage for the children of Israel. You may be the heir apparent to the throne or you may even be the king (I am not even talking about your connections now), a day will come where a new king will arise, who know you not. Are you going into bondage/slavery when that happens because you were not wise when "your King" was on the throne or will you remain free and noble? As much as we want to sometimes show who we are, how well connected we are or the silver spoon with which we feed so that others will not "harass us" or "take us for granted", we should not throw caution to the wind and wisdom should always prevail. Time and chance happens to them all. Besides, there is a great difference between who you know and who knows you, either way I recommend you stay humble and kind like Tim McGraw and Kendrick Lamar preached in their songs.

    PS:
Make sure the "King Maker" knows who you are, that way, every King must know you too.
