Oga Prophet ordered for all the necessary items for the sacrifice, seven alters, seven cows and seven rams with the hopes that God will change His mind about the whole deal but instead God started pouring out blessings on Israel. That made King Balak angry but because he was a man on a mission to destroy his enemies, he was patient enough to take Balaam to another location, where he will get another view and another perspective. They offered same sacrifice and the answer from God only got worse as far as the son of Zippor was concerned. With fresh anger and more determination, he took the Prophet to the third place, performed the same sacrifices and the answer refused to change.
I must confess, I admire the tenacity and die-hard attitude of Balak, if you did not do the math, let me do it for you, that guy invested twenty one cows and twenty one rams excluding logistics and labor for building those altars with no ROI whatsoever. Get this clear, he who seeks to destroy you knows all your juicy and potential sites, sometimes even more than you do and is ready and willing to spend whatever it takes as long as you are "driven out of the land", had Balaam not stopped him, Balak had many more sites to show and many more cows and rams to sacrifice just so he can achieve his aim, he was ready to loose all he had only if his enemies can be cursed.
By the end of the day, Balaam, whose sole motivation for attempting to change God's mind thrice was the "honor", got the message he dreaded, he was not getting anything, in fact he was somewhat chased away by his host. No honor, no noble men and no connection with God. What is worse than that? It will take another hundred or more years before the right word for this type of thing to be coined, it is the word "ICHABOD" which translates to "no glory". So Balaam, the much publicized prophet, the "blesser and curser" went back home with ichabod, and last I checked, that was the last time any mention was made of him in any text, it will therefore be safe to say, he went back to his place as a nobody, the prophetic mantle was taken away and the promised "honor" turned into a guaranteed dishonor and falling out with both God and Man. What a deplorable state for the once famous "Oga Prophet".
Back to today, your enemy will stop at nothing to get you out of the land so you too should not stop at anything to stay, Balaam created a back door for Balak to use and that worked because the children of Jacob initiated their own downfall. Guard your spirit and soul against Balak, he knows all the sites to point Balaam to in your life and destiny.
You may have gifts and talents and may even be active in the "Prophetic" line and is even famous and maybe Kings have already sent "noble men/prince" and even sent "nobler men/princes" to get you for a service or two, please beware of Balak. You may say at least he ended up advising the king to lead the Israelites into sin which somehow worked but at what expense? Ichabod? You may retain the gifts and blessings, God does not undo His blessings and gifts but I know He does not joke with His presence. Remember Balaam.
PS: It was not recorded if Balaam was married or had kids but can you imagine what it was like for his family if he had any?
