RELEVANCE

When his extra marital affairs and eventual highly publicized divorce took place in 2010, an approximate $50 million dollars was lost by companies associated with Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods and a staggering 3,000 people (three thousand people) lost their jobs and of course the world number one golfer then also lost a gulping $22 million dollars and those figures are just approximations with speculations that more people than reported lost their jobs and more funds were lost because of the scandals. The scandal is not my point, besides I think he disobeyed the 'Eleventh Commandment' that was why he had to pay because people do worse things and get away with it as long as the 'Eleventh Commandment' is obeyed. Now, look at those figures and the number of people that lost their source of income because of a single man. I am pretty certain some of those people are yet to get back on their feet till date.

Aliko Dangote today can stroll into any Presidential palace on the globe with confidence because his invitation card is from the 'In-Charge'. He can hold meeting with almost anyone in the world and not sweat for attention because he is the attention. Should, God Forbid, Dangote Group of Companies fold today, the economy of Nigeria and indeed Africa is doomed or will most likely collapse.

Kirk Kerkorian of blessed memory was once reported to be highest employer of labor in the State of Nevada (Las Vegas to be precise) and that alone gave him a larger than life status among casino owners, business men and the entire United States government. He change the face and future of an entire country by the manner in which he transformed Las Vegas, opening more room and boom for the gambling business placing him on Forbes list as one the wealthiest in world. His interests and investments in the movie industry (Hollywood) was actually celebrated when he died in 2015.

What is the common factor shared by these men? Relevance. They are and were so relevant that the destinies of many others was attached to their success or failure. How did they do it? Simple, impact lives and create platforms /opportunities for people to grow and watch relevance draw close each passing minute. Nobody really cares about you and what you do till you have something that is beneficial or helpful in solving thier problem, as Theodore Roosevelt rightly said "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care about them.” And showing care means you doing something to lay a lasting impact in that persons life. I am yet to see a hero who did not provide or proffer solution to a problem/issue. So if relevance means anything to you, start making impact, start providing pedals for people to ride, start creating windows so the sun rays can light up dark rooms, break barriers for others, pull doors and walls down for others. The most amazing part of it all is the benefits relevance comes with. Wealth and open doors. You cannot make things happen for others without a things happening for you. You can't help someone gather without getting a portion rubbing off on you.

To be relevant, start making impact. Make happen for others that which you want to happen to you.
